Coupon savings add up

Sometimes, it’s hard to get motivated to use coupons but the savings do add up. We like to think in big numbers so saving 50 cents on an item sort of takes the motivation away.

I mean, if we were getting the item for free or there was some kind of rebate that would actually wind up making money for us, we would jump on it — wouldn’t we?

So, what we need is a different perspective about the savings. We need a plan.

Since we tend to think of dollars rather than cents, it seems reasonable that we find a way to scale up the amounts for the sake of our minds so we  can get a better grasp of the potential for cash in our pockets.

Look at collective savings rather than individual ones. Add up all the coupons you can use at the grocery this week and you’ll be surprised at the total.

Yes, it takes time to pull all of this together but think of it as a part-time job for which you get pretty good pay and also think of, or even make a goal for, something your family really wants or needs.

You’ll soon be on your way to getting it.
